3x10, or There's a Reason I don't Meta!

I don't normally do meta; I read it. However, this most recent episode of SPN left me feeling terribly thinky, so I thought I'd try my hand at making the thinky at least a little coherent.

Cut for spoilers and rambling on 3x10 )

The state I'm in.

Dear Georgia,

It's February 7th. In case you've forgotten, this is the time where you're supposed to be making me miserable with cold while I quietly cross my fingers and hope for snow that never comes.

Instead, for the past three days, the heat's been off, the windows have been open, and every fan in the house has been going.

It's not that I mind the mild weather, really, but it's terrible timing. When summer hits, I'm sure we'll all resent you, because all those bugs that winter didn't kill and all that freezing snow and rain that didn't fall will come back to bite us in the ass.

So, you know, quit fuckin' up.

Love,
Mak

More on that WTFery.

In regards to recent events surrounding Heath Ledger's funeral and the uproar certain picketers have caused, [info]chal had some very good things to say. "Don't give them any hits on their website, don't try to engage in debate with them, don't give them the satisfaction of upsetting you where they can see it."

These people, the picketers? Negative publicity is what they live for. They want us to get outraged, to try to yell at them or even try to reason with them, so they can point to us and call us names and say, "People like this are why we do what we do!" Every time we let them get to us, every time we link to them and point fingers, we're spreading their message. We're flinging their shit around for them, and we're only adding to the hate they want to spread.

I feel like an idiot, myself, for letting them get under my skin, because the idea that anyone could disrespect so many people, could go that far, makes me so very angry. And the idea that one day, maybe sooner than I expect, I'll have to explain to my son that no matter how much love and beauty is in our world, people like this exist, too? That kills me. But I have to agree that the best way to combat them is to give them no more time or attention than we already have, not even mention their group or their website by name.

If the point is to promote tolerance, we have to be tolerant and patient with all things, not just those we agree with. And man, I wish I could take that lesson to heart. I can write it, but putting it into practice is really freakin' hard.

Are you fucking serious?

I just. I... RAGE.

That's all.

SPN Fic!

Title: Satellite

This may make me a bad slash fangirl, but...

I really kind of like Bella. I can't help it. Her nastiness is infectious. And unlike some annoyingly badass blondes I could name, I can believe she would actually exist.

Also? Since the chances of hot gay incest as SPN canon are pretty slim, I guess I wouldn't mind angry!violent!sex between Dean and Bella.

GW Fic: Psychomachia

Title: Psychomachia
Pairing: 1x2x1 (Heero Yuy/Duo Maxwell)
Rating: R
Summary: An exploration of Heero and Duo's relationship using each of the seven deadly sins. Violence, some angst, possibly pretentious quote-things.

Fandom is clearly an amazing thing.

Just an FYI, for those of you who had an interest: Sweet Charity raised $14,548.64 for RAINN, including both bids and donations. It's times like these that I think fandom people are the best ever. :D

...Now I'm off to write my Sweet Charity fics.

Masochism at its best.

Since seeing [info]nanthimus post about this at her journal, I've been flip-flopping between signing up for [info]50_elements and, well, not. As it turns out, I'm a glutton for punishment, so I finally did it. I picked the "Earth" theme set and (kill me now) Sam Winchester for my muse. This is on top of the two fics I need to write for Sweet Charity.

Of course, I currently spend most of my day with a baby attached to my boobies, so it's not like I can't find time to sit down at the computer. :)

PIMP: Sweet Charity

Sweet Charity has opened up for bidding! For those who haven't heard of this, authors, artists and other fen offer goodies up for auction, and others come along to bid. All bids go as donations to the chosen charity (this time, it's RAINN). There are also ways to simply donate through the site without bidding on anything.

I've put myself up for auction, and I've seen tons and tons of names that I recognize among the fen offering their goodies. :) It's well worth checking out, if only to see some of the stuff that was created for the last round.

Oh, Wincest.

Since I clearly can't bring myself to actually pin down one of the hundreds of bunnies hopping around my brain, I've signed up for The Wincest/J2 Fest over on LiveJournal. Maybe writing for a fest will at least get me started on something in this fandom. I've been wanting to write something and just haven't got up the courage. Now I've committed and can't back down, though.

Yay for psyching yourself out?

Also, at the insistence of Ashe, I am now downloading the first season of Weeds. Does anybody else on my flist watch this? I'm not sure if I'm going to like it or not, but I do love Mary Louise Parker.

And now the baby's crying. *runs*

Stardust!

I saw Stardust last night, and it was so lovely I almost cried. They changed a good many things, but as Neil Gaiman said in his blog, the things changed made sense to change for a movie.

Also, Robert De Niro in this movie? SO MUCH LOVE ♥♥♥

I need a sky pirate icon.

And we're still migrating...

With all the crazy that's going down at LiveJournal, and upon discovering just how strict the ToS is at GreatestJournal, I've made my way here. Currently, I'm camping on all three accounts. None of the moves are permanent, but after looking around and getting the general vibe, I think I like IJ more than GJ.

Now to wait it out until fandom journaling comes along. :)
